LETTERS OF RECOGNITION
I am
writing this letter to the Brotherhood because I believe that far too often the
men in the field do not receive proper thanks for a job well done!!
On April
23rd, I started a project at the Ohio Edison plant, Edgewater, to do
a factory warranty repair. By Thursday
the entire project started to take a turn for the worst of situations. The replacement parts did not fit one part
after another.
I made a
call to Rich for manpower at approximately 10:45 a.m. and many needed to weld
stainless, stick and wire feed, plus run a plasma cutter and report to work at
3:00 p.m. that afternoon. Because our
journeymen have the desire take upgrade classes, Rich was able to man the
second shift with six qualified men
Because
of the problems the scheduled outage was extended from Friday 9:00 a.m. to
Saturday p.m. at 8:00 p.m.
These
nine plus those that had started the project performed their tasks as skilled
craftsmen are expected and went beyond the call. There scheduled shift was for 12 hour turn
only. The project continued to fail and
these men worked 2-16 hour shifts. The
project was completed at 7:00 p.m. on Sat. and in time to make the spring
dinner dance.
As a result of the quality of workmanship and inspection of the
similar units at West Lorain, was made and the same problems for starting. First Energy called upon us once again to make
the repairs before another serious problem got out of hand.
I would
like to take this time to recognize these men for a JOB WELL DONE!!! Thank you.

Thanks
once again to the qualified men of our L.U. 1871 and to Rich for the quick
response.
